MANY GREAT ACTORS COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD.BUT LEONARDO IS ALEXANDER THE GREAT

First of all, that is a completely different movie you mentioned, and the only people I've heard who have actually signed on for that film was Leo Dicaprio as Alex, and Nicole Kidman as Olympia, and rumours of Mel Gibson as Phillip. Where did you find your information?

Actually Leo hasn't signed up for anything. It is currently one of the biggest "urban legends" doing the rounds. He was approached and was interested initially but has signed absolutely nothing to say he will actually play the part. Wink

Ok rumors I've gotten through a friend who is in PR in LA is the following:

Quote:
it looks like there'll only be one Alexandar the Great movie. Baz Lurhmann is failing to attract enough investment for his version, starring Leonardo Dicaprio, ceding the field to Oliver Stone & his film, starring a bleached Colin Farrell.

With budgets in the $150 million range, are we surprised?

Now I WILL mention that my PR friend does work for the same firm that represents Leo and Colin in the LA...

if they're going to cast Bagoas, they better not cast a woman. That would be a total cop-out, not to mention just plain inaccurate. How can a woman be a eunuch?

there is a French actor (but damn i forget his name) who would be perfect for Bagoas, and he's the right age (around 17).

funnily enough, i always thought jude law would have made (physically) the best alexander. and were i martin scorsese, i would have cast colin farrell in leo's role in 'gangs of ny', because he IS the original irish thug! ha ha ha

anyway...i saw 'master and commander,' a great movie. in the film i got a glimpse of joseph morgan who is playing philotas. he looks to be in his mid 20's, very handsome, with very blonde hair and very tan skin. don't know how much of his physicality will be altered for alexander, but if anyone is seeing the movie, here 's the scene he's in:

((SPOILERS FOR MASTER AND COMMANDER))

joseph morgan plays william warley. warley's first appearance (when you get a good look at him) is when he and another young man approach the captian aubrey (russell crowe) with a model ship. morgan is the blonde.

he is also the man who falls overboard during the ocean storm, but he is very hard to see in this scene.

His companions would have to be of the same age group,I dont understand why Anthony Hopkins is Ptolemy, ptolemy was at school at mietza with Alexander, Anthony Hopkins is older than Philip when he died.

Hopkins is playing the older Ptolemy, Elliot cowan is playing the younger.

That's correct, Cowan will be portraying Ptolemy during his years with Alexander, etc. Hopkins will be playing the older version of the same character as he narrates the events of the movie -- quite appropriate, since the real Ptolemy wrote his memoirs of his time with Alexander that are now unfortunately lost. Sad

The updated cast for this movie is:

Colin Farrell: Alexander
Jared Leto: Hephaestion
Angelina Jolie: Olympias
Val Kilmer: Philip
Anthony Hopkins: Ptolemy (Old)
Jonathan Rhys-Meyers: Cassander
Rosario Dawson: Roxanne
Ian Beattie: Antigonus
Rory McCann: Crateros
Joseph Morgan: Philotas
Francisco Bosch: Bagoas
Raz Degan: Darius
Brian Blessed: Leonidas

Gary Stretch and Erol Sander are both cast in unknown roles. Jeanne Moreau was approached for a part (probably Sisygambis) but I don't know if she accepted it. The IMDB lists lots of dancers and Bosch as Bagoas, though I don't as yet have independent confirmation of this casting.

He's all right... I guess in my mind I had someone a little more doe-eyed. But I suppose his being a dancer helped. That photo of course might not really show him. Maybe 3D he is slightly "softer" looking.

That Raz guy is gorgeous. But I pictured Darius older.

He's beautiful. Even with the sucked-in model cheekbones (looking more normal, he is far more attractive).

But again. Wasn't Darius older?

And his blue eyes... interesting.

This movie will have the best-looking cast since.... I dont know what. Troy? LOL
