I'm really shocked, I thought it was going to be a universal release date.

Just heard a soundbite interview with Colin on BBC Radio One this morning (nothing special - just the bisexual and luhrmann version questions)

Why would he be promoting this movie in the UK now, if it was going to be released in 4 months later? A November release for the UK could still be on the cards - I know they do these things way in advance, but maybe, just maybe!!

Isn't Christmas Eve a really odd date to release a film? I'm hoping it'll be out before Christmas, not January ... although I will only be really upset if the date is on or after 15th January. On that date I leave England for six months ... how typical would it be if I missed the only film I've ever been excited about months in advance?

I don't think you have to worry about that. The UK release date is confirmed as 7th January.

Kevin,

I moderate the Dreamworks Alexander forum and the news we have seen on the WB site for the UK said, January 2005 with no specific date (you have probably seen that anyway).

I did run across a link from bbc.co.uk that said January 7th, like Corinth mentioned. I have posted the link, below.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/comingsoon/jan05diary.shtml

I assume it's January by what the WB site says, but it may or may not be the 7th.

I live in the US and it's hard to wait even until the 24th of November. But I think it was a good move on WB's part to move the film. Now, I don't know if the UK date will be affected by the delay in the US date. I guess it's a wait and see.

Dara

Wolff, can you provide your source? That's why I cannot believe that the UK release date is in January. I mean, for crying out loud, most of the film was shot in the UK so how come the release date is so far behind everyone else? I am still fishing for the date from Warner by the way but they are being extremely non-cooperative - which I can understand but still drives me up the wall.

Hi Kevin,
Yes, I sympathize with you.
I have voiced the same reasoning you have about the picture being made in Britain, for pity sakes, and getting it last. Outrageous!!
If it was up to me. I'd have a Los Angeles premier around the 20th, and then, a New York City premier on the 22nd and then one in London around November 30th, with all the stops pulled out - The Queen & family, and Sean Connery in his kilt, Dame maggie Smith, Dame Judi Dench and Michael Caine, etc. and a big ballyhoo at the Dorchester or Claridges for the crew that helped make the bloody film. I think Warner Bros. needs me. Let them know will you. These people are 'pikers'.......
