1. Geronimo
2. Sitting Bull
3. Marquis de Lafayette
4. General Robert E. Lee
5. Patrick Henry

Not all battles are fought on the battle field, and not everyone who makes a difference is famous or wins. I admire most those who did not know they would win. It takes a great deal more courage to go into battle as the under dog and/or on the side of right or at least the unpopular.

(but of course, I still love and admire ATG the most for the world that was created out of his campaigns)

Remember that leadership is one thing....tactical innovation is quite another.....if you want real innovators in warefare then you must look at the people who did it first:

My top few for the ancient world:
Gaius Marius
(basically created the Cohort and the late rep Legion)
Epanamondas
(spelling is terrible:( Creator of Alexander's Phalanx)
Cyrus
(Took the cavalry and made it a very potent force)
Hannibal
(welded a polyglot force and beat the best)
Scipio Africanus
(showed how flexible the legion was and managed to beat Hannibal)

hannibal barcas said that he regarded alexander as the greatest military genius ever, puting himlelf third and pyrhus, the greek king of epirus and famous for his pyrhic victory(who was also greatly influenced by alexander)second

good point about Epameinondas,he invented the use of the phalanx really, and Alexander admired the thebans even after he crushed them.

cyrus did not invent,or even himself revolutionised, the use of cavalry, but he did have some excelent horsemen tribes in his army and used them.

I thought with Cyrus though.....and my information on him only comes through limited Greek sources....that he took the various tribes of Perisan horseman and turned then into a cohesive strike force....something that the Babylonians or Egyptians had not done....this though may have coincided with the horse's ability to support the weight of a man more effectively....and hence a lessening of the need to use chariots...
