Hi! I'm glad I found this forum, because I am seeking information about the horse in the movie who portrays Alexander's "Bucephalus".

I am working on a news story for my horse website, but have not been able to find ANY info, not even who the horse wrangler was. What I'd really like to know is the real horse (or horses) name, breed, how they got him, etc.

Also, how much is the Bucephalus story actually in the movie?

Have there been any interviews with Colin Farrell about riding (did he know how to ride before this, etc.?)

Can anyone here help, please?

Thank you so much.

Tig

there is some info on imdb.com

Peter Pedrero- horses stunts assistant

Sian Lawson- horse supervisor: motion capture unit

As far as we can I can make out Bucephalus will be included.
I have a feeling that this shot

is the famous scene where young Alex tames Bucephalus. I doubt whether the death of the horse will be included... who knows

good luck with the article!! Smile

Hmm. He's supposed to have white blaze on his muzzle, and I think we would have been much smaller than that. It's a well known fact Persian horses were tanks compared to the smaller Macedonian and Thessalian breeds.

In this film Bucephalus appears to be a Friesian. Friesians are Dutch horses that are characterized by being very large, but elegant horses. Tall and broad these horses are always black with long tails and mane's and feathers over their hooves.
