Well, Hello Colins_mom! I have been a bit behind in my hellos and posts.

My usual welcome is simple....grab a glass of wine and toast to ...ALEXANDER!

Cheers!

Adriv,

Thanks for the welcome! Darn, I'm out of wine, will have to pick some up tomorrow. I see you are in Maryland, not too far from me globally speaking. Howdy neighbor Laughing

And to the ALEXANDRIANS!Don,t forget Alexander,s birthday,s coming up......July 20th. so a major binge in true Macedonian fashion could mark the occasion.A scary thought,it only seems five minutes ago that we were saying this a whole year ago!Yikes! Shocked

Maybe Alexander's birthday should be put on our birthday list (if it isn't already) so we can be sure to toast him...all day, haha! Very Happy Best stock up on more wine this month! Razz

Curious, I've inquired about this before, but I've just wondered what was wine like in Alexanders day? I think it was stronger but was it sweet or dry? What did they prefer? What did a GREAT bottle of wine taste like?

Dionysus-Wine
Gives you some information.....

Muscat - An aromatic red grape, of ancient Greek origin, that is considered to be the ancestor of most European wine grapes. It is the same grape as the Spanish Moscatel, and the Italian Moscato. The Muscat (Moscatel) probably entered France through Spain, and is considered to be even older than the Spanish Malvasia, another grape of ancient Greek origin. Muscat wines are often sweet and always fruity with a characteristic aroma described as "musky".
