Welcome! Get a huge glass of wine and give Alexander the traditional toast. Very Happy
Yes, some of us have traced parts of the route. Joanna and Alexandros 19 travelled through Greece from Pella to Athens and I followed him along the coast of modern Turkey. How about you?

Maybe one day we can travel the whole journey without war being in our way. What about going to Alexandria and Siwa? That would be possible. Very Happy I felt very close to the Macedonians in Turkey. It was wonderful and someday I'll go to Pella.
Lawrence was a very great man too.

To do Alexander's route, the one he exactly did, has always been a dream of mine. It's not going to be vacation at all but a trip full of excitment and of great joy. I'm going to do it one day. I feel it Exclamation

One day these wars will end and then maybe the tourist industry will hold guided tours right along the route - !!! Razz I'd do it, except for the Makran desert bit... I don't think it would be that good for my skin. I found out Alexander wasn't actually the first one to cross that desert; he was following in the footsteps of an Assyrian queen! That makes me feel very proud!!! Wink

It's the modern name of Gedrosia dessert. Alexander crossed it on his way back to Babylon.

I agree wholeheartedly. Ah, but where are the wild, unknown places in the world? As the years go by, there are less and less...
