At what age was Philip when that coin was produced? At what age is Val Kilmer going to play Philip? What did he look like on a bad hair day? It's a movie - there is a thing called artistic license. It doesn't really matter who plays who as long as the story is as near accurate as possible. Nobody ever built a time machine but there are still films about them. |

Well, maybe... but I still think he should look like Filip! Even a lot of make up can't help to look like Filip, he should make a plastic surgery! |

I didn't say that there is someone equal like Filip II, but they should find someone better than Val. |

Thanks for posting that Crazyhorse.
I think trying to cast someone who looks EXACTLY like some image of Philip would just be kind of stupid. Most people have no idea and in the long run it doesn't matter. Philip lived far too long ago for many people to truly care (it's not like there is archival footage of him like there is of, say, John F. Kennedy or Winston Churchill). What's important is the acting and being able to portray those QUALITIES in Philip that he was reputed for. In this way I think Val Kilmer will do a fine job. He's proven to be a versatile actor. I think given the choice of looks or acting ability, Stone went quite wisely with ability. |

You have to remember though that most royal sculptures, painters, etc. always made their royal subjects look better than they did in real life so as not to incur their wrath. He may have looked slightly like the image in the coin but nobody can say for certain that he looked exactly like that. For all we know, he may have looked like Val Kilmer |

Even though this post goes way back, i would like to know if anybody has seen how val kilmer looks like with a beard, not dreased up as phillip though, but there was one pic of him which i have which was taken in london duiring the shoot there, with a big beard, looks like a cave-man little bit, if i find it i will try to post it. He could be a good phillip we'll see when the movie comes out. |
