Here's a recent picture of Val Kilmer, with beard, for you to decide whether or not he will be ok as Philip. Picture kindly provided by Salonika...

Val with beard looks great as Philip looking at the foto above. It is a good choice, unlike the one for Alexander.

Philip, at some point, loses an eye when Alexander is in his teens (from "Fire from Heaven" by Mary Renault). He's also described as over-weight, and not very attractive (Alexander gets a glimpse of him naked and is appauled by his body). I'm sure, being Hollywood, Oliver Stone will have to make him look sexy if the audience is going to identify with him. He's really a good and smart man in the book, but in reality isn't very good looking at all. I have to wonder if we're going to get a true depiction of Philip. Don't get me wrong, I think Val's a great actor (loved him in "The Saint"), but I don't know if he's the face of Philip of Macedon.

Hello Everyone,
Val Kilmer, in an interview on TV's Regis and Kelly Show, last month said that Oliver Stone wanted him overweight and ugly; and it looks like he is pretty close to that.
And, I think Colin's hand is on Val's upper back, like he's patting him near the shoulder blades. Do you really think Oliver Stone would allow a release of Colin with his hand up Val's toga?????? Uptight North America would ban the whole movie if they thought it had homosexual hanky-panky between father and son. Yikes, our Puritanical souls would be corrupted!!!!!!!! Embarassed

Flaming hell, it's bad enough with the controversy Alexander and Hephaestion has caused without anyone suggesting anything else. Wink
