I know a bit about Ian. He qualified as a barrister after attending Queen,s University Belfast and then studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. The report about the circus is true; it belonged to a friend of his father's and he joined when he was seven, working there for four years. He has just recently married his partner and they have two boys. He lives in Belfast.
He plays "Antigonous the One-Eyed" in the film and word is that he had to spend two hours per day in make-up to "lose" the eye. He underwent an intensive training regime to lose some weight before travelling to Morocco where he spent three weeks in a military camp along with the other actors. There is an unconfirmed report that he received some stitches in his cheek on the first day of training after a practice stunt went wrong.
From a theatrical background, he appeared in the award-winning play "Caught Red-Handed" by Tim Loane (who wrote the Channel Four series "Teachers") and "Observe the Sons of Ulster..." by Frank McGuinness before commencing filming "Alexander". |
