When Alexander scolded Hephaistion and claimed that Hephaistion was nothing without him, was Hephaistion fighting with Craterus or Eumenes? It seems that craterus and eumens' names are sometimes interchangable. Historically who was involved in the bitter disagreeent? Thanks

Hephaestion had arguements with them both but I believe the argument you mention was with Craterus.

There was alot of rivalry between Hephaestion and Craterus.Alexander had more respect for Craterus whom he called 'Friend of the King' however had much affection toward Hephaestion whom he called 'Friend of Alexander'. There was alot of open quarrelling between these two, without a doubt. However I don't beileve Eumenes was involved in any arguments with Hephaestion, rather more with Alexander.Since back in the day he was what we'd call an account type person today, in charge of all the finances. Hephaestion and Craterus were no doubt fighting, but there is nothing anyone had to gain by quarelling with Eumenes.

However if anyone things differently i would be happy to hear.
