Hi everyone, my name is Stephen, I am 35 and I live in Birmingham, England.

I stumbled across this forum whilst I was looking for a place where Oliver Stone’s film wasn’t treated with universal derision and I found you interesting people.

I have been fascinated with Alexander the Great for over 20 years and I thought the film was marvellous (okay it had flaws but I loved them all), so I look forward to reading all your posts and making a few contributions of my own.

Hi Stephen!

Welcome to the discussion board! We will be awaiting your contributions to the forum and we hope you enjoy being here.
I'm surprised at the great number of people from the United Kingdom who participate in the forum and at how poorly the movie did there. It's a paradox! How can it be? I guess it must be either because Britons have a higher tendency to participate in online forums or because the website is .uk Laughing

Aw'right Gibsey!

Glad you could join us. Smile
I reckon the high proportion of people from this country in here is explained by the fact that every single one of us that did see the film is taking refuge here!

Hope everyone had a good Easter by the way (or a good Spring holiday or whatever if you don't celebrate it).

I think you may be on to something, I managed to see “Alexander” three times and the last time I went to see it I was the only person sitting in the cinema, oops I think that makes me sound a bit sad. Wink

Allison

Thanks for the invite to the reading group, as soon as I have managed to get hold of a copy of Arrian I shall try and add something constructive to the discussion.

There is an online version of the Anabasis of Alexander, by Arrian, if anyone needs it. http://***/alexander/arrian/book1a.asp
I hope more people join the reading group. We are just beginning!

Actually, I haven't posted much around here lately. I got caught up with a monster trying to slander and libel me on the BBC Movies board and have been involved with my supporters there.

I think, in fact, it is you stalking me, as you said somewhere... Aargh!! A stalker Laughing Laughing
