Hi, i was looking for a post to show you something and i thing that this could be good enought. I began to edit my first video and i decided to join my favorite movie and my favorite song. The movie of course i Alexander, and i will be using the directo's cut. And my favorite song is "Stargazer" by Rainbow, and of the best, if not the best hard rock songs ever written and sang it by the Great Ronnie James Dio. This is just an exemple, its not a good editing but im new in this things. What i wanted to do and will do is to join the story of the song with the film. It's just for fun:

Hi Siwa,
the words of this song do have particular meaning to those who know Alexander's life..and a thats quite a good music video, keep at it.... Very Happy !

High noon, oh I'd sell my soul for water
Nine years worth of breakin' my back
There's no sun in the shadow of the wizard
See how he glides, why he's lighter than air?
Oh I see his face!

Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
I believe, yes, I believe

In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
To see him fly
So many die
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
Just to see him fly
But don't know why
Now where do we go?

Hot wind, moving fast across the desert
We feel that our time has arrived
The world spins, while we put his dream together
A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky
Oh I see his face!

Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
Hey, I believe, I believe

In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
Just to see him fly
Too many die
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But we don't know why
Ooh, now where do we go

All eyes see the figure of the wizard
As he climbs to the top of the world
No sound, as he falls instead of rising
Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand
Oh I see his face!

Where was your star?
Was it far, was it far
When did we leave?
We believed, we believed, we believed

In heat and rain
With the whips and chains
To see him fly
So many died
We built a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly

But why
In all the rain
With all the chains
Did so many die
Just to see him fly

Look at my flesh and bone
Now, look, look, look, look,
Look at his tower of stone
I see a rainbow rising
Look there, on the horizon
And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home

Time is standing still
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home

My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh

Take me back
He gave me back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh

Going home
I'm going home

My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh

Take me back, take me back
Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh

I have a lot of Ronnie James Dio's stuff, mainly on vinyl which I can't play at the moment...the lyrics of Light in the Black carry on from Stargazer.....
and could be added as another movie video...!

the first few verses....

Can't forget his face
What a lonely place
Has he really let us go?

All the time that's lost
What's the final cost
Will I really get away?

All my life it seems
Just a crazy dream
Reaching for somebody's star

Can't believe it all
Did he really fall
What to do now I don't know

Lyrics taken from Tapios Ronnie James Dio Pages

Hi Cynisca!!,
Im very happy about your post. I thought the same about A light in the black, jajaja. And, of course, Rising is great!!. And there is no better voice for me as R.J Dio has. I will keep on working that video and i will tell you when i finish it. For me one interesting thing of doing it is that the lyrics of the song makes you emphasize one particular aspect of Alexander's drama, that maybe i can resume it saying that even though people belived in him nobody really understood where he wanted to arrive and why.....more or less...jajaja.

See you!

This film has affected me in various ways. First I developed an obsession with Alexander the Great, reading all the books I could about him - non-fiction and fiction. I also became fascinated by the relationship between Alexander and Hephaestion which then led me onto reading about other close relationships between men. I have to admit that I like watching beautiful men together which is why I found Colin and Jared so appealing in the film. From discussion boards I am relieved to find I am not the only woman who thinks like this!

Rosa, you're certainly not alone!I've been totally taken by surprise by this reaction and I've also found out just how many other women feel the same.Weird but interesting! But back to Alexander and Hephaestion. It's a fascinating relationship, partly because it's rather enigmatic and relies on interpretation of the little evidence we have.I thought Colin and Jared were perfect in portraying this unbreakable bond.Personally,I feel that this is one of the great love stories of history, but certainly not one of the best known.
I think what you said regarding how the film inspired you to go and find out all you could about the historical figures really justifies all Oliver's efforts.I think he'd be proud that so many have been turned on like this. Very Happy
